Joy After Alopecia is Baldie Maintenance. As a new Baldie I had a lot to learn about maintenance; from razor selection, to shaving cream to frequency of shaving. Thankfully my first barber Sabrina sent me off on April 6, 2019 with a great starting point. Sabrina instructed me to get a Gillette Mach 3 Turbo Razor and Shave Secret shaving oil. She also told me I would need to shave my head every four days. As a Baldie newbie, I followed Sabrina’s instructions explicitly and enjoyed feeling my smooth, razor bump free head.
As part of my Baldie maintenance, I also made a couple of trips to Prestige Grooming Lounge where “Cyrus” gave me my first fresh Baldie after 30 days taking Xeljanz (read more here ) and gave me my first fade when I decided to let my hair grow back a little medicine free.
As my Joy After Alopecia journey progressed, so did my decisions for my Baldie maintenance. After experiencing a pretty terrible razor bump flare up, I opted to take some product recommendations from The Baldie Movement, and I purchased an Andis Outliner II Square Blade Trimmer and Comprehensive Care Cranium Head Wash. Additionally, I picked up a container of Humphreys Witch Hazel Astringent, recommended by several ladies in the The Baldie Movement. Through trial and error, I discovered that Queen Helene’s Coconut Oil is soothing after a fresh shower and shave. Daily use gives me a Bald and Beautiful shiny head.
